As Nature Intended. Nothing More, Nothing Less.

At Sett & Beat, we believe the finest textiles are born of nature itself: pure, breathable, and biodegradable. Our selections are a reflection of the world we inhabit, created with respect for the earth and an unwavering dedication to quality. We choose fibres that speak with quiet elegance, while leaving no trace upon the world once their purpose is fulfilled.

We reject the artificiality of synthetics and their lasting environmental toll as far as possible. Instead, we cherish the enduring luxury of natural fibres: the warmth of Merino wool, the lustrous glow of mohair and silk, the soft weight of hand spun cotton, and the timeless texture of hemp and linen.

What We Work With

Every fibre in our collection is chosen not only for its tactile beauty, but also for its distinguished performance and minimal environmental impact. These are the fibres that form the heart of our creations:

Recycled Materials

Denim and torn cloth, reincarnated through Sakiori-style weaving, turning forgotten textiles into treasured works of art.

Small Batch, Considered Colour

Colour at Sett & Beat is approached with care, patience, and discernment. Many of our yarns are dyed in small batches by a women-owned studio in South Africa, employing methods that honour the environment. Our botanical dyes, drawn from nature’s own palette, impart rich depth without the use of harsh chemicals.

We remain steadfast in the belief that the art of dyeing—like all craftsmanship—benefits from time and tradition. While we welcome innovation, we are mindful of the pace set by small-scale production: deliberate, measured, and always mindful of its impact.

Proudly South African Fibre

South Africa’s Merino wool and mohair are among the finest in the world, and we are honoured to support these industries. By working with local suppliers who prioritise animal welfare, land stewardship, and fair labour practices, we ensure that our materials are as ethically sourced as they are exquisite. Our commitment to these value chains sustain the future of wool and mohair in this country, alongside the people and animals who make it all possible.

Traceability with Integrity

We believe that the true value of a fibre lies not only in its beauty, but in the care taken throughout its journey. From shearing to spinning, dyeing to weaving, we ensure that every stage of production reflects our commitment to transparency and mindfulness. We collaborate with artisans who share our values of integrity, ensuring that each piece honours the craftsmanship and people involved.

Our dedication to conscious making transcends sourcing. It is about cultivating a legacy of skill, sustaining dignified employment, and reviving traditional industries, all while leaving a lighter footprint on the world.
